M.E.R.D.E.K.A
49 years of independance.
49 years of development.
49 years of growth.
49 years of loyalty from gracious citizens.
49 years of Malaysia.
Happy 49th Birthday, Malaysia!
I do admit I'm not the most patriotic Malaysian. I can't recite the Rukun Negara by heart. I can't sing Jalur Gemilang without forgetting the lyrics. I never seem to support Malaysian products. I laugh at others who actually bother to hang the Malaysian flag outside their windows. However despite all condenming and rantings, I'm glad I'm born to be a Malaysian. There, I've said it, HAPPY? In a country where diversities among the different races are bridges to closeness and better relationships. It is often a wonder to the world to why people of different races in Malaysia can live together harmoniously. Despite our differences, we can't deny the fact that we've grown into each other to spell out " Malaysia" or rather "the spirit of muhibah".
Some people may consider me a hypocrit. I critisize and love my homeland at the same time.
That's right. I do have a love-hate relationship with her, Malaysia. & I'm not afriad to announce it to the world.
I bitch about the ridiculous policies. I rant on how some leaders can act so foolishly on certain issues. However, I do openly profess my admiration to all fellow citizens where they are able to overcome racial diversities and background. I applaud to people of all races where they live and accept each other as family.
I support Malaysian movies like Sepet and Puteri Gunung Ledang. Eh, I bought original DVD u know....not pirated leh....
I support Malaysia enough to feel bummed out of missing PGL, the Musical. So much that I'm prepared to travel to Singapore to watch the Malaysian production in November.
Most of all, I love Malaysia enough to call myself a true, proud Malaysian.
SELAMAT MERDEKA, TANAH AIRKU!
